Let me clarify that I struggled with non-criminal sex addiction. There is a huge distinction between porn and sex addiction versus criminal predatorial offending porn and sex addiction.
Probably, like most men for years, I was able to hide my addictive behaviour and keep it secret and it didn’t affect my squeaky clean public image.
Until I got caught red-handed by my ex-wife and within 2 days I flew to the United States and entered a porn and sex addiction treatment center for the first time but not the last.
I was in treatment for 3 months and when I left the center, within 5 days, I had relapsed with my sex and drinking addiction. I maxed out my credit cards and barely had any money to get back to Canada. The shocker in all of this story is that my addiction to sex and porn heightened and I was drinking more than ever before. It took me another 8 years with many close calls with death as a result of my insane out-of-control drinking, porn, and my sexually addictive compulsive behaviour before I was able to find my own freedom and embrace my own transformation.
